Trek Core Theories: Star Trek Megaverse Hoax and Why April Fools Joke Was Never Read

Star Trek Megaverse to be Name of New Series in 2017

It has been 18 days since this April Fool's joke was attached to a blog on the guesses and rumors thread of the new Star Trek series in 2017 on Trek Core. Since then, nobody has even gone there and the thread is dead.

The gay female captain angle had been suggested before the joke, and the thread had gone on from that, not the joke.

Below is the joke reposted from the On Location Kat repost where it was deleted yesterday.

SUBJECT: STAR TREK SERIES
SUBTITLE: MEGAVERSE
STUDIO: CENTRAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM CORP.
FORMAT: TELEVISION TO INTERNET ALL ACCESS

STARSHIP: MEGAVERSE
The mission of the Megaverse is to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life forms, and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before. The galaxy will be the Milky Way. It will be set in the early 25th century.

THE CREW

CAPTAIN REGINA CARPETA MUNSHER
Described as a metro-sexual female humanoid where it is no problem that she happens to be pan-sexual. She is about 36 terran years old, strong, stalwart, powerful and commanding.

FIRST OFFICER RICHARD LIONHEART STEELE
Described as a strapping young and proud muscled and strong leader, he is a male humanoid cat like being with leonine traits. He is a lover of females, but occasionally he will date outside his species and gender.

COMIC RELIEF MJ SMOKEALOT
Described as a skinny but toned male in his 20s who likes to rap and make lyric poems, and is always cracking wise because he wants to fit in. He is sort of a young Wil Smith. He likes wearing bling. His skin tone though is purple.

DOCTOR IVANA SCAPELLI
Described as a wingless dragon like female saurian, she is probably about 30 terran years old. She is into everything. She likes the holodeck and to day dream.

CHIEF ENGINEER/SCIENCE OFFICER MR ROBOTO
Described as a reformed Borg, Roboto is a smart, savvy, all around tech guy who can fix literally anything on the fly. He is like that old show McGuyver. He is amazing and powerful and uses the best tools. He also knows his way around the ship.

CARGO MANAGER/OPS OFFICER SPARKLY GLOAMING
Described as an equine female humanoid with partly horse like traits, she is an alien who can handle the job, and is strong and powerful. She is super magical and friendly.

HELMSMAN/HANDYMAN B ART SIM PISAN
Described as a yellow creature, also partly for comic relief, who is good natured but brilliant, an android like creature in some ways. He will try to understand humanity but be less autistic than Data. He will have a habit of saying ‘Oh Man’ a lot.

NAVIGATOR/AWAY TEAMS BABS HOPPITY
Describes as a bunny rabbit like humanoid, which means she likes to mate, a lot, but this will only be hinted at for comic effect. Sometimes she doesn’t though and has occasional moods. She will be sassy and have a sexy air about her.

VILLAIN
The guy that wrote this up on April Fools Day! Have a nice day.

Ha! Here in the US, this idea would have actually caught on at some studio! Read the story to the end and you will get it.

Hah ha. Very funny. April Fools!!! Although the cat like Vincent/Aslan guy and the Equestria Girl/Wonder Woman and the Minion/Bart Simpson/Rain Man character could be the breakouts, with the shipping like idea of there being trans-gendered and bisexual crewmen, the Ripley/Ellen/Divine captain would be so 2016. It is doubtful CBS would consider doing an openly transgendered character without making them sound somehow a stereotype. The rapper character sounds like something they would do to go hip with the new kids, but be so off base it wouldn't be funny.

Some of his other fan fiction is interesting on the page, including those unsold Star Trek teleplays, and his fan series, and having been on TrekWeb. (The site is mine).

If I had moved it to an April Fools thread it would have spoiled it. And yes, the fan site it cuts to is mine, so it is not being offensive to some fan. Edited Saturday at 10:01 AM by Chimera82405

Next Series May Not Be Chimera but Is Not Megaverse
That April Fool's joke didn't really get noticed 10 days ago. Star Trek Megaverse was a joke where a crew of stereotypes command a new Enterprise. The only play it got was that some TrekCore fans liked the trans gendered female captain idea and made their own.

Megaverse is not a thing. It's a joke.

As for the anticipated use of three 'web episodes' that could be made into a spin off series of Star Trek Chimera, the cast has since backed off from that idea.

Last summer they were way too enthused and assumed a story set 3 years later, connected to Beyond, and being about Sillians was a good idea.

The stories make great scripts, but filming them may be impractical. It would require an actual budget and they can't profit from Star Trek parodies. All of it would be in house produced with no kick starter.

Kat said in a candid online update days ago, for Chimera, that it wasn't likely they would go through with using those stories unless Cards signed off on all of it, and advised only.

Kat can quickly do a given fan story alone in about a week, whereas it takes Cards, who has work hours, significantly longer. It is estimated that had Cards been available on Chimera they would have been done two years ago. Cards does not live on set. Kat does. He can just decide to make a fan film in an afternoon.

Kat does not want to leave Cards out.

Like most fan films, the enthusiastic one usually drives the other ones away, and they end up never completing their project.

Chimera may be one of the first to actually get completed.

They will do something else for the 50th also, in addition to this awesome movie, but it will likely not be Old Friends and episodes to follow.

During 2015-early 2016, Kat was able to fully make new fan films for other series, including a 65 minute and tghen 90 minute Robotech spoof, and then to go on and make a 45 minute Transformers one, and do a Star Crackers story editing update for the read editing gig.

The reviews shows on YouTube are also done often, where you can see both Kat and Cards.

Most everything they do is free.

Update. April 19. It appears nobody clicked the link to the joke because they did not care, or feared getting someone's spam ads, but more likely they did not care. Most fans on Trek Core have short attention spans and don't read long posts, or even comments beyond the first paragraph, leading to massive battles over not even reading the final points.

They did not even have a battle over this obvious joke, and ignored it completely. Even the admis did.

The joke's text has been read aloud on a Kal Kat related You Tube web site.
