Trek Core Theories: Star Trek Megaverse Hoax and Why April Fools Joke Was Never Read

Star Trek Megaverse to be Name of New Series in 2017

It has been 18 days since this April Fool's joke was attached to a blog on the guesses and rumors thread of the new Star Trek series in 2017 on Trek Core. Since then, nobody has even gone there and the thread is dead.

The gay female captain angle had been suggested before the joke, and the thread had gone on from that, not the joke.

Below is the joke reposted from the On Location Kat repost where it was deleted yesterday.

SUBJECT: STAR TREK SERIES
SUBTITLE: MEGAVERSE
STUDIO: CENTRAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM CORP.
FORMAT: TELEVISION TO INTERNET ALL ACCESS

STARSHIP: MEGAVERSE
The mission of the Megaverse is to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life forms, and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before. The galaxy will be the Milky Way. It will be set in the early 25th century.

THE CREW

CAPTAIN REGINA CARPETA MUNSHER
Described as a metro-sexual female humanoid where it is no problem that she happens to be pan-sexual. She is about 36 terran years old, strong, stalwart, powerful and commanding.

FIRST OFFICER RICHARD LIONHEART STEELE
Described as a strapping young and proud muscled and strong leader, he is a male humanoid cat like being with leonine traits. He is a lover of females, but occasionally he will date outside his species and gender.

COMIC RELIEF MJ SMOKEALOT
Described as a skinny but toned male in his 20s who likes to rap and make lyric poems, and is always cracking wise because he wants to fit in. He is sort of a young Wil Smith. He likes wearing bling. His skin tone though is purple.

DOCTOR IVANA SCAPELLI
Described as a wingless dragon like female saurian, she is probably about 30 terran years old. She is into everything. She likes the holodeck and to day dream.

CHIEF ENGINEER/SCIENCE OFFICER MR ROBOTO
Described as a reformed Borg, Roboto is a smart, savvy, all around tech guy who can fix literally anything on the fly. He is like that old show McGuyver. He is amazing and powerful and uses the best tools. He also knows his way around the ship.

CARGO MANAGER/OPS OFFICER SPARKLY GLOAMING
Described as an equine female humanoid with partly horse like traits, she is an alien who can handle the job, and is strong and powerful. She is super magical and friendly.

HELMSMAN/HANDYMAN B ART SIM PISAN
Described as a yellow creature, also partly for comic relief, who is good natured but brilliant, an android like creature in some ways. He will try to understand humanity but be less autistic than Data. He will have a habit of saying ‘Oh Man’ a lot.

NAVIGATOR/AWAY TEAMS BABS HOPPITY
Describes as a bunny rabbit like humanoid, which means she likes to mate, a lot, but this will only be hinted at for comic effect. Sometimes she doesn’t though and has occasional moods. She will be sassy and have a sexy air about her.

VILLAIN
The guy that wrote this up on April Fools Day! Have a nice day.

Ha! Here in the US, this idea would have actually caught on at some studio! Read the story to the end and you will get it.

Hah ha. Very funny. April Fools!!! Although the cat like Vincent/Aslan guy and the Equestria Girl/Wonder Woman and the Minion/Bart Simpson/Rain Man character could be the breakouts, with the shipping like idea of there being trans-gendered and bisexual crewmen, the Ripley/Ellen/Divine captain would be so 2016. It is doubtful CBS would consider doing an openly transgendered character without making them sound somehow a stereotype. The rapper character sounds like something they would do to go hip with the new kids, but be so off base it wouldn't be funny.

Some of his other fan fiction is interesting on the page, including those unsold Star Trek teleplays, and his fan series, and having been on TrekWeb. (The site is mine).

If I had moved it to an April Fools thread it would have spoiled it. And yes, the fan site it cuts to is mine, so it is not being offensive to some fan. Edited Saturday at 10:01 AM by Chimera82405

Next Series May Not Be Chimera but Is Not Megaverse
That April Fool's joke didn't really get noticed 10 days ago. Star Trek Megaverse was a joke where a crew of stereotypes command a new Enterprise. The only play it got was that some TrekCore fans liked the trans gendered female captain idea and made their own.

Megaverse is not a thing. It's a joke.

As for the anticipated use of three 'web episodes' that could be made into a spin off series of Star Trek Chimera, the cast has since backed off from that idea.

Last summer they were way too enthused and assumed a story set 3 years later, connected to Beyond, and being about Sillians was a good idea.

The stories make great scripts, but filming them may be impractical. It would require an actual budget and they can't profit from Star Trek parodies. All of it would be in house produced with no kick starter.

Kat said in a candid online update days ago, for Chimera, that it wasn't likely they would go through with using those stories unless Cards signed off on all of it, and advised only.

Kat can quickly do a given fan story alone in about a week, whereas it takes Cards, who has work hours, significantly longer. It is estimated that had Cards been available on Chimera they would have been done two years ago. Cards does not live on set. Kat does. He can just decide to make a fan film in an afternoon.

Kat does not want to leave Cards out.

Like most fan films, the enthusiastic one usually drives the other ones away, and they end up never completing their project.

Chimera may be one of the first to actually get completed.

They will do something else for the 50th also, in addition to this awesome movie, but it will likely not be Old Friends and episodes to follow.

During 2015-early 2016, Kat was able to fully make new fan films for other series, including a 65 minute and tghen 90 minute Robotech spoof, and then to go on and make a 45 minute Transformers one, and do a Star Crackers story editing update for the read editing gig.

The reviews shows on YouTube are also done often, where you can see both Kat and Cards.

Most everything they do is free.

Update. April 19. It appears nobody clicked the link to the joke because they did not care, or feared getting someone's spam ads, but more likely they did not care. Most fans on Trek Core have short attention spans and don't read long posts, or even comments beyond the first paragraph, leading to massive battles over not even reading the final points.

They did not even have a battle over this obvious joke, and ignored it completely. Even the admis did.

The joke's text has been read aloud on a Kal Kat related You Tube web site.

Trek Core Theories: The Gay Commander May Not Happen

On April 8, 2016, one of the sites posted Chimera's article reply of the Trek Core web site article on the gay commander theory for the next Star Trek series. He did not start the article. He merely posted. This was originally printed on a web site under another name.

Tangled had a gay character? You mean that obviously stereotyped almost mincing one? Yeah, well he doesn't count. He was too much a sign of whatHollywood gets wrong.

Better hidden gay characters with Disney, the bisexual Genie, Timone and Puumba...who were outgoing and loving their freedom...

Hidden Frontier was good at doing the fan fiction gay character most of the time, but sometimes it got a little preachy.

In 2016, it would be best to make the character not seem off the wall, flaming, or anything stereotyped, but to make them just a good human being with amate that happens to be the same gender. It should be no big deal. Star Trek should have openly bisexual relationships by the time of TNG. It shouldn'thave bothered Crusher or later Dax to have a same sex lover. She should have been like, hey, why not?

But no, even then the censors were squeamish and wanted those stories to end with some sort of rejection. Heaven forbid they should end with them actually liking each other! In some ways, some of those stories were backward compared to even the 1960s show. In 1989 they were not ready to embrace it, and in 1996 even less so somehow. Mirror Kira was another kind of stereotype, the 'evil lesbian', which always was wrong for them to do.

The who Dax is kissing was just the whole tired even then cliche, look hot girls kiss because guys like that, which is not reality. No, lesbians are notinteracting to turn guys on, but the way TV did it back then, it was what they thought.

What do ya expect though? When they wrote relationships with hetero partners it was always awkward. Maybe only Riker and Troi kind of worked, and maybe

Worf and Dax a little, but really the rest failed. Kira and Odo seemed incredibly out of place. Picard and Vash seemed forced. Picard and Crusher neverhad chemistry and came off like a pair of cousins.

Actually I think two of the most interesting pairings on DS9 should have been Bashir and Garak and Bashir and Miles, in that order, or vise versa. Iconsider flamboyant Garak to be one of the first bisexual if not gay Star Trek characters, although it is never explicitly said.

I think if they're going to have some sort of gay or trans gendered character, don't make it a token character. Don't just do it because fans want it.Do it because it's about time Hollywood did it right.

Make him or her normal in the sense that there is no mincing, or anything obviously stereotyped, and not going around constantly protesting that there

is some inner turmoil. You'd figure by the future they would be accepted and there would be no struggle. They would merely be who they want, and beconfident about it. Don't make the gay characters all sad and troubled. I'd much rather see a self confident and outgoing strong willed gay captain who is proud of it.

Those episodes where they became troubled by having a same sex relationship was silly and out of place in the future they were showing. I say embraceit!

In Star Trek's future everyone should be allowed to be at them selves free from any hindrance.

Maybe there can be another character who is troubled and trying to fit in, but the captain should not have that issue, as he or she is a trained

Starfleet officer, and they understand the issues. Otherwise you have angry leader Trek.

I'd much rather see two openly friendly gay characters having a good time in space than I would like to see the opposite,

Science Fiction needs to get back to some more fun stories. In the future, they should be equals and nobody makes a big deal about it.

The crew shouldn't even consider it a big deal. The gay character should just be like, oh, this is my wife, or my husband, or my boyfriend, and theyshake hands and nod and have a friendly chat on the way to the bridge.

I don't know for sure if they are going to have an LGBT character.

TNG would have gone there but chickened out. They almost had a gay character. La Forge in the first season was going to be gay, but they got cold feetafter about half the season and started making him more confined and less flamboyant. Garak was the later response to that, making him similaraly outgoing and suggestive, while pulling back on what he might do. It still wasn't official, but that was the intent. Both were kind of stereotypedthough, that whole overly excited, well groomed, garishly outfitted off duty deal. Yeah, Garak was straight. No. Even so, it's the future so it doesn't msatter. When was DS9 supposed to be, like 2369? Yeah, no big deal that far off.

Too bad the producers were kind of homophobic and never took that leap, or afraid of losing ratings and didn't. Even Trek 09 had to toss in lines about

Spock having a girlfriend, Kirk having several, and Scotty thinking the engine nacelles were like lady parts. Ugh, Abrams, come on. Then in Trek 13 theyhad to show gratuitous underwear and how Kirk was with not one, but two women at once, and alien ones at that. It seems the new movies actually took astep backward.

"Ohhh Myyy"

But aren't there like five threads on this? Granted it is part of the whole Trek 2017 series thing kind of.

I agree, Vie. Rejoined copped out. Host hopped out. That other one did too.Why couldn't those episodes have just ended with them not being sad or not willing to stay friends?

I agree with many of these ideas. My point is similar to many.

I want a three-dimensional gay character in a committed relationship on a starship. Like Uhura back in the day, or Sulu, it's not that his gender preference is ignored. It's that in the future the persecution and wrong headed ideas about homosexuality on Earth are gone, and they have an enlightened sense of morality that has changed.

It is no longer that 'gay equals bad somehow', it's that it is just the way they are, it is not bad, and that's not a big deal. It's not being ignored.

It's almost being celebrated. The character reflects a more modern acceptance.

Yes, don't make them horny. It would be the same thing as making Kirk like that, or making a girl in a cat suit like that, or the strapping young dude who works in security. Make them people.

You don't have to make them bitter because they lost a loved one. Same goes for the straight guy like Sisko. That was part of his character but doesn't have to be part of theirs. Why have conflict about it? That's kind of saying that they need to be sad or tormented somehow, when they do not.

You don't have to make the gay character excessively outgoing because they're gay, 'no Liberace stereotypes',  but outgoing a little makes you connect with any character. Kirk is suave. But not angry either, like the opposite end of that.

If he or she is the captain, I would much rather see that he or she doesn't chase around the crewmen. That is not a very appropriate thing for the commander to do. It would be too much about power and not about a relationship. It would be nice if the lover or spouse was not an officer serving on the ship, but a civilian or some kind. Then he or she is not beholden to the command structure, but accepts it.

So as someone who knows at least bisexual people, knew gay people, and they were not stereotyped, it stands to reason they just want to be understood.

It's 2016, so you'd think by the future, such things would not be ignored, but persecuted minority aspects could be a thing of the past. That is very

Star Trek.

A 2016 version of Q would lecture the captain, "In your not too distant past, humans were persecuted for their religion, race, or gender. What apreposterous thing. Since we Q have no gender technically. It is as alien to us as you are."

"So you will judge us for something else, Q? Because we have learned to better ourselves, and such things happened centuries ago?"

"Yes, Captain. You are still emotional human beings clinging to your old ways, even though disguised as righteousness. The Federation is little more

than an affluent human's club."

"So we have a lot to learn, Q. Agreed. Human nature will not change, but we can learn, even if we do not adapt."

"Fascinating idea, Captain." Q vanishes.

Captain's civilian lover looks askance at him. "What did you do this time?"

"I think I just made a bad bet."

"Oh, Captain, you do that often."

Trek Core Theories: Intelligence Tests May Prove Nothing

On April 4, 2016, Chimera posted on Trek Core in an article on intelligence tests and commented on other posts, but they have been left out. The original posts have been moved from an affiliate.

Intelligence may manifest in ways that are as immeasurable as faith or conscience. IQ tests prove nothing. They just pigeonhole social and intellectual groups and make it easier for high ranking theorists, educated guessers, to make people in little boxes with labels on them. IQ tests are flawed and do not prove someone is lesser or more human.

As someone said above, environment is a big factor, as well as social class, status and any restrictions on that class that might happen. A poor starving family in the ghetto is not going to get the same education, social status, social dynamic or benefits a city dwelling middle class family, or a high rise penthouse rich one might get. That has a major impact on the so called intelligence tests.

Einstein probably scored poorly on social tests, but he was brilliant in other areas. Then there were people like Newton or Copernicus that didn't go out much, but were great too.

Social work status is not a testable class as there can be people who cannot handle a high stress work place, and ergo test badly, but put them in an office with a computer and they could be the next Steve Jobs or something.

The brain size test from long ago was an excuse to show that racist people were somehow right in their distorted beliefs, which they were not. One of the most pronemat physicist of our time is Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and another Michio Kaku.

Even in the 1980s, 30 years ago, they didn't ask children what they were thinking or feeling, but just put them in special classes when they acted out. They never asked what was the root cause of their behavior. Many a 1990s raised child was on medication for just being a kid with issues. It was very strange.

They were not more or less intelligent, but socially they probably were not scoring very high. Some of them might have gone on to become doctors, given some caregiver that helped them to go beyond the social box they had been placed in.

We must all achieve our potential, but not like the thoroughbred being broken, (Star Trek 09), but like the nurturing of the mind.

Being under educated makes people ignorant of the world, not dumb. You can find education in living too and meeting wise people, and having good hobbies and activities.

Maybe the genius can lie in the details. You might have a tradesman that rises in the ranks to become the best at her trade. She can literally envision a building plan and get the materials, and build it,

Then there could be a highly educated person who can't find work because socially he or she is not meeting up to some outdated social job skills tests, that don't work. That person might even have multiple degrees in interesting fields.

So there should not be an IQ test because it makes people seem like they have to measure up to some outdated standard. It should be more like a social and intelligence ability test, factoring in various advantages and abilities, and exploring and reducing weaknesses, not mocking people for being different somehow. Learning difference is not a disadvantage, ergo Spock left the science academy in Trek 09. It is a different one.

Most of the great thinkers had some kind of disability. Interesting.

Andy Warhol was a genius at painting weird things, but other things, he was not so good at.

Okay, IQ tests are not all faulty. Maybe some of them work out. Yeah, there was too much editorial psycho-babble in my post earlier, and there are no absolutes. The point was that giving people labels tends to isolate them. It might not always happen.

I saw also attempting to make it seem more like Star Trek themed, with pop psychology elements Spock surely would have mentioned.

I am not a psychologist, as you can tell. I make characters that are, but that's not the same thing.

The heredity angle I didn't get at, but now I will. Sure there are some people who are born into riches, or born into acting, or some of the social class. They might become like their parents. Upbringing is also a key. If you have inspiring parents, you might have a lot more potential than if your parents weren't there.

Genetics though might not play a role in that case, as social class is playing the role.

Is there such a thing as physical intelligence, the fittest somehow are smarter, because I doubt that there is a connection? No, the brutish might not lead to the smartest. Is intelligence in the brain only? It seems a great deal of it is in the brain.

The old Turing test for intelligence in artificial life could be applied to humans, and it would be interesting testing a physically fit focus group, a smarter than usual one, and a not so bright one and see something.

It still would not prove fitter, healthier, and greater in genes equates to greater mind power. An example of mental power would be Dr. Hawking, who is able to communicate only through his computer, but is a brilliant mind, and one of the greatest physicists of the modern age. Genetically he has a disability, probably inherited, but that doesn't mean he cannot do something great.

A friend of mine once told me that two bully jocks could have a smart kid, or two smart people could have an extremely dumb kid. The luck of the draw.

Probably in ancient times when humans were foraging for food it had something more to do with the stronger willed hunter types bringing food to fuel the tribe, but even then they probably had intellectuals who planned out that hunt.

Society, as one of you said, is not merely the high society, but everyone. Also that Goofy looking smiling dog icon is great. Ha. :)

Fringe Theories: Settlers not Aliens made Rock Walls in California

The Secret of the Bay Area Walls
I'm going to use my actual own quotes from my recent rant on Jason Calavito's blog site, a published blogger and skeptic I have gone to for free and wrote on his blog wall as Kal. It is easier that way since for the walls it's kind of long. I do not know this person at all, although some of the bloggers seem to be misinformed as to my motives, since I find trolls often and mention PT Barnum a lot, but really I have not met him.

From Marco Polo Discovers America, an America Unearthed episode review.

Oh, had I known SW was not 4 miles from my current location messing with Ed Levin Park I would have had to go and pester his film crew! But it looks like he was pretending he was there, because that park is on county land above Milpitas and Fremont, not in San Jose, which is the other side of the valley, (and the greener foothills) and 40 miles from San Francisco.

On the Mt. Diablo and Mt. Hamilton side you get the dry hills. (San Jose is actually larger than San Francisco, but we call it 'the city' anyway). The Ed Levin park people know who built the rock walls behind the park. Settlers. As for the ones in Berkeley, probably other settlers. Milpitas has over 74,000 people. San Jose has over half a million. The whole county has a million.

The walls were not there before the Spanish. The early settlers included Portuguese and Spanish ranchers. Since they were in an arid place with little trees they used stone to mark the edge of their territories. The valley and the opposite side, Santa Cruz and all, had a lot more trees being closer to the ocean. They didn't need rock walls. So at least at the county park they're just settlers' walls. They're not that old. It's also possible Ohlone helped to mark the walls but settlers were more common.

The walls likely were erected between the 1700s and the 1900s. They are...colonial. Sorry SW. Wrong again. California under the Spanish was settled even before it was an official state, and was a territory of Spain and Mexico. SW doesn't recall that. The city names and trails that lead to San Francisco were all part of a massive mission trail going all the way to the city and up north a bit.

Kal

Actually there are some walls in the Santa Cruz hills too and some on the other side of San Jose, so technically if he went to Alum Rock first it would have looked a little like the Ed Levin region. I suppose he thinks Alum Rock refers to some kind of mythical group called the Alum. Lol. It's named after a special rock, but not the KRS. Maybe SW should have went in search of the rock. It's interesting looking up close, but hardly left by giants or aliens.

Kal

The clear genetic evidence of Asian looking Native Americans from several instances of either island hopping through the Pacific, or polar ice and land bridge hopping from Siberia, at the end of the ice age, point to there being Asians in America long before Columbus. Whether or not they sailed in stone age times or after is not well documented. Also there would be a reason for there not to be records in China of later voyages, before the settlers in colonial times, that most of the voyages to America before it was called that would have bee one way. They never went back. They kept going. They settled here (and in South and Central America). It wasn't until colonial times that ships were built well enough to come and go if they wishes.

It's not like the Scandinavians though as the colonial ones that settled Minnesota and the like were much later. Those colonials wanted to feel at home and carved stones.

Yep, the rock walls of California are colonial. Sure there are also native walls too. Those are older. Alum Rock Park even has some interesting pre-colonial things, which SW apparently ignored, because it doesn't prove his shoddy points.

Kal
12/21/2014 3:50pm
SW has done this before when he has found mounds and old grain mills and said it must have been someone other than natives. He's making it up.

In the case of the walls, they are documented. The Spanish settlers and the locals built them as part of the rancheros and missions. Everyone here knows that. It's not even legend or folklore. The evidence that SW seems to completely ignore the Spaniards in favor of in Italian is hilariously silly. After this one nobody should take them seriously. The place is called California, a Spanish word! Most of this stuff is colonial. The natives also piled rocks. One of the tribwes is called the Ohlone, so they could have asked their tribal club. It does exist to this day. Then that would require actual research, which they don't want, so they go for the most obscure idea ever.

I still like the one way trip theory for the Chinese pre colonial groups. Even though ancient China after the dark ages (only in Europe) were more advanced, their boats were barely strong enough to make the journey, and it's a larger ocean. Island hopping occurred to them as it did the other unrelated groups. They kept no records we know of because those voyages were lost. They never returned. Once colonials started coming and going centuries later, they kept records. Did the Columbus people even have translations for Chinese characters?

Only for trade. They knew about the Orient and were looking for it. Chinese is a picture writing language. A symbol means something instead of a letter. You see the character for ship and for water and can interpret that differently if you know the context.

The Chinese and India did trade with Europe during the colonial times and they did know of each other. Just because SW didn't find any evidence doesn't mean it wasn't there. He likely doesn't even speak Chinese.

The show AU mixes colonial times with ancient times frequently based on bad evidence, hoaxes, and made up stories. Attempts to ask the right questions of actual knowledgeable people are few and far between.

The genetic facts prove that the Native Americans were here thousands of years before the colonial Europeans ever were there. But since then they are so intermingled they're finding mixed groups with combined cultures.

Marco Polo did not come here. The Spanish did in colonial times, and they added rock walls, state, city and street names, and even a road that runs through San Jose called the King's Highway, (El Camino Real), implicating they wanted the king of Spain to come and visit the ranchers. (Update. No, they meant God).

Alum Rock marks the site of a colonial quarry near the site of a pre colonial settlement.

Ed Levin lake is man made from the 1950s or so. The park was on this old ranch land. They had peach orchards. Some of the orchard is still off Piedmont Road, named for many other Piedmont roads, including one in Duluth, Minnesota. I suppose SW will think that thus vikings settled California! Nope. Piedmont is Latin for foothill, and we use the English word 'foothill' to describe the low rolling hills the road is on.

By Colonial times the Chinese could come and easy did come to the Americas. Most of the current Chinese settlements are colonial, as they were laborers and ranch hands. The settling of San Francisco Bay is well known. The colonials also made it up to Seattle but not Marco Polo or that alleged admiral.

Milpitas is a combination of Spanish and local dialects and means either land of a thousand gardens, or land of a thousand cornfields.

Since it's also Silicon Valley and we're all extremely OCD about detail, we know quite well about the old history of the place.

Sure there are Chinese people who have records of their colonial voyagers, and if you asked properly, have records of those one way trips centuries before that.

Kal

SW should not be hitting rocks with a hammer on a county park land on TV. No wonder they keep kicking him out. His forgetting entirely the Spanish heritage of the valley, or ignoring it, is extremely messed up, not scientific, and utterly baffling. Forensic geology. Bah! The Ohlone and the Mexicans are probably laughing about this episode.

Alum was allegedly a precious element the later Gold Rush settlers thought was on Alum Rock and so they built a resort there, not just a quarry, where they had bath houses through natural springs, and a brothel. Some of the natural springs still remain even after the water table fell in more modern times. The remnant of the warm springs and mission trails run through the valley to other settlements.

The area is rich with relatively modern history, after the Mexican history, but SW ignores both in favor of tapping on 300 year old stones. Actually they're from about the 1600s so that's a little off. Some of those stone markers are still land boundaries, (the never ones by Caucasian settlers), had he looked in the freaking county records, which he didn't.

I would recommend Ed Levin and Alum Rock parks not let him back in. Good day. (I'm not actually going to call them, as I'm sure they've seen this mess already, but it was fun to watch).
